Apple Releases iOS 26.2 Public Beta 1 with Exciting New Upgrades

Apple has released the first public beta version of iOS 26.2. Apple introduced a transparency slider for Liquid Glass on the lock screen, urgent reminder alarms, an enhanced sleep score, and modifications to the News and Podcasts apps.

Apple has rolled out the iOS 26.2 Public Beta 1, introducing several exciting upgrades and refinements. One of the key additions is a new slider that lets users adjust the translucency of the Lock Screen clock widget, offering full support for all font styles to enhance customisation. The Sleep app has also received a small but meaningful tweak — the “Excellent” sleep score rating has been renamed to “Very High,” with Apple fine-tuning the overall sleep rating system following user feedback. The News app now sports a refreshed design with quick-access buttons for popular categories such as sports, puzzles, politics, business, and food, making navigation faster and more user-friendly. In the Password app, Apple has added a new setting that allows users to manage websites where passwords aren’t saved during sign-ins, providing better control over security preferences. The Reminders app now includes an ‘Urgent’ toggle, which lets users set alarms for important reminders to ensure nothing critical is missed. Another highlight of this update is the AirPods Live Translation feature, now expanded to users in the European Union, in compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Creative users will appreciate that tables can now be added in the Freeform app, while the Podcasts app introduces smart enhancements, including auto-generated chapters, mentions of related podcasts, and quick access to links discussed in episodes.
